Great writing and story but starting to really dislike the main character and his pet.
This author is one of my favorite authors, so my review is going to be entirely subjective. I urge everyone to read his books! They are so good!Queenslayer is the fifth book of the spellslinger series. Kellen is still an outcast and looking to stay out of trouble, at which he is pointedly bad at. I love the development of him and Reichis over the series! Compared to the books before, Queenslayer is a lot darker. Although the previous installments had conspiracies and deceptions in them, the level of political intrigue here is a lot more noticable. I especially enjoyed the last revelation! Even though Queenslayer is self contained, it made me look forward to the last book. I can't wait to see how everything plays out!As much as I enjoyed every single aspect of this book, I do have to critique points: The first, obviously, is that Ferius didn't show up. I love her! And I miss her. Hopefully, the finale of the series will be reason enough for her to join back with Kellen. Secondly, I loved the introduction of the castradazi coins in Charmcaster. I'm still a little disappointed that Kellen hasn't really learned to use them more. It would be a nice variation from the single spell that is all he ever uses!Regardless of those two points, I enjoy this series immensively. I love the characters, I love the world, and it makes me cry as often as it makes me laugh.
